AITS 2009 - NO EVENT THIS YEAR

We Will Not Host An Event In 2009. Due to the current state of the economy we will not be doing AITS this year. The advertising costs, insurance, bands and other operating overhead are very expensive. Last year we paid out approx. $2,000 to put the event on and only recovered about $300 in fees from participating artists resulting in a net loss of approx. $1,700.00. In this current economic environment we are barely hanging on as it is.

Let's all hope things turn around and we can bring this back in 2010.

Cheer!

AITS 2008 - Thanks To All!

Debe and I want to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who either participated in or attended this years Art In The Square.

Mother Nature threw us a real curve ball and the inclement weather kept attendance down. Despite the low turn out several artists did quite well. Naturally as hosts, Debe and I wish all of our vendors success. Heavy rain and poor attendance does not bode well for good sales so unfortuneately some artists had a rather slow day.

I was was pleased with the show overall in terms of the way things came together and the nice variety of art. The booths all looked nice even those that were rookies did a great job.

In planning outdoor events you are always at the mercy of the weather. Debe and I participated in any number of out door shows over the years that either were wash outs or as I recall one in Monterey where gusting winds off the ocean knocked over several artists displays causing a lot of damage. Not a lot of fun, but part of the deal when you do out door fairs and festivals.

AITS 2009?????????? - We'll see. Let us crunch some numbers, catch our breath and we'll decide if we will try for a fourth annual.

Thanks again to all!

VENDOR UPDATE

OK the weather looks iffy! We'll have to see. Some models look like the rain will stay mostly to the south and east of us. Let's hope so.

IMPORTANT! Our food vendor was involved in a car accident and will not be able to be here. Bummer! Hope she will be OK! That means that we will not have food available for you. We will provide coffee during set up and bottled water for the vendors. Lunch - well, bring your own or we have JRECK SUBS within walking distance. I apologize if this is an inconvenience. What are you gonna do?

I'd brown bag something if it were me.

Note To Vendors

Artists and vendors may set up Friday afternoon/evening or Saturday morning. We kindly ask that you have your booth set up to the point that you can have your car moved by 9:00am. You will still have an hour to finish setting up and hanging. The show officially opens at 10:00, however because of our highly visible Route 11 location past experience tells us people will start stopping as soon as they see tents etc.. We need to be ready and have vehicles moved.

We have had a lot of press this year. Articles have appeared in The Penny Saver (cover story), Oswego County Weeklies(two stories and advertising), The Palladium Times, Syracuse Post Standard. We are also listed on a number of event calenders on line and in newspapers. The weather forecast looks good so far! Let's keep our fingers crossed. We should have a great turn out! Please call or e-mail us if you have any questions. 668-9459.
